Our Basic for maximum adventure: In response to many customer requests for a flint-free version, we developed the Boker Bronco Basic.
When designing our new Boker BRONCO outdoor fixed knife, we set ourselves ambitious goals. It should meet the latest technical capabilities and offer optimal functionality in relation to modern needs. For this purpose, it should have the following features: - Universal and optimal usability for all professional outdoor users, such as bushcrafters, campers, survivalists, hikers, hunters, SAR teams and others. - Blade made of CPM steel at the highest level of metallurgical possibilities - The handle fits well in the hand even during long-term work, completely surrounds the tang along its entire length and does not dissipate heat from the cold hand - High-quality leather sheath that can be worn with or without a pendant, and which protects the knife against loss and damage. And of course 100% production in Solingen/Germany - Moderate price in relation to the equipment We managed to meet these ambitious requirements in the following way: CPM-3V was developed by Crucible Industries LLC - specialist and world market leader in powder steels - ensuring unprecedented tolerance to impact loads, elasticity to cracking and resistance to chipping with phenomenal edge retention and a hardness of 61±1 HRC. These properties of powder carbon steel were achieved, among others, thanks to the precisely selected chromium content of 7.5%. In this way, the positive properties of the Cr alloying element, such as increased wear resistance and hardenability, can be exploited while maintaining the fine microstructure. The versatile wide drop-point blade with a high-set saber grind has always been the preferred shape of hunters for both large and small game, and is suitable for both fine tasks such as stick feathering and more coarse ones such as compulsory clubbing. The tang is continuous and protrudes a few millimeters from the end of the handle. This ensures maximum stability, and the pin can also withstand strong impacts from a log or other object. The short spine of the blade creates sharp edges at a 90° angle on both sides, which allows striking with the optionally available fire starter. TPE was chosen as the handle material - a thermoplastic elastomer that completely surrounds the shank and has a structure that ensures a good grip in all load directions. TPE is resistant, flexible, non-slip and has low thermal conductivity. Thanks to this, the knife fits securely in the hand in all weather and working conditions and does not suck strength from the fingers in wet and cold conditions. Compared to conventional elastomers, TPE also has the advantage of reducing the environmental burden during production, because it is only physical and there is no need for long-term and energy-intensive vulcanization of chemically cross-linked elastomers. The knife is equipped with a quiver-like leather sheath - the highest discipline in sheath construction - ensuring a deep and secure fit of the knife. In this way, the knife is protected in the best possible way against loss and damage when worn, without the need for a break-prone lock that hinders quick access. The removable dangle allows for a high carrying position on the belt or a low carrying position under the hip belt of a hiking backpack. This makes the Boker BRONCO a compact, versatile and essential tool for survival in the wilderness and in any situation.
