History Kife & Tool Commando Dagger is the implementation of the famous Fairbairn-Sykes Fighting Knife, which is quite rightly referred to in specialist literature as the mother of all modern combat knives. The FS Combat Knife was designed by two hand-to-hand combat legends Lieutenant Colonel William Ewart Fairbairn and Major Eric Anthony Sykes during their service with the Shanghai Municipal Police (SMP). The first batch of 50 was produced by Wilkinson Sword Ltd. in Sheffield in 1941, after Fairbairn and Sykes presented their ideas there for the optimal fighting knife. The knife was first used by Allied commands such as SOE, SAS and OSS. During World War II, it was increasingly issued to regular units, and then adopted by special forces of various nations. Today it is a symbolic element of the insignia of numerous paratroopers and special combat units. It has been produced worldwide by various manufacturers without a uniform and binding formula for the FS. The current form corresponds to the third design, which was produced from 1943 and for which a uniform specification was not established until 1949 with the UK Government specification E/1323E. NATO lists FS knives to this specification under the delivery number. 1095 99 963 2037. Our model follows this third version, which is classic in every way. The specification includes the following features: A narrow, double-edged blade with an average length of 18 cm, an oval but simple guard, distinctive jimping on the aluminum spindle handle with a through shank, and a complete blackening of all parts of the knife. The dark brown leather sheath features a blackened and studded patch, a two-studded belt loop with a simple but effective 20mm wide rubber strap to secure the handle, and two leather straps for optional sewing or sewing onto the uniform. Hard 420 stainless steel was selected for the blade.
