Is the standard uConsole board limiting you to microSD and USB 2.0? The Upgrade Kit Adapter Board replaces the original board and unlocks the full potential of your uConsole - adding a PCIe connector for an NVMe SSD, USB 3.0, CSI camera port, fan connector and Ethernet signals.
This is the foundation of any uConsole upgrade. Without this adapter board you can't connect an NVMe drive or get Ethernet 1 Gbps from the AIO V2 board. One module - the leap from toy to serious tool.
What you get after replacing the board
- PCIe Connector - exposes the PCIe signals from the CM4/CM5 module, enabling connection to the NVMe Battery Board with an SSD. No more slow microSD - a real difference in performance.
- USB 3.0 - connector for the CM5 module, enabling connection to the RJ45 Ethernet 1 Gbps and USB 3.0 expansion board.
- USB-C Flashing Port - allows flashing the eMMC version compute module directly via USB-C.
- PWM Fan Connector - compatible with Raspberry Pi 5 and CM5 fans. With CM4 the fan runs at fixed speed.
- CSI2 Connector (camera) - identical pinout to the CSI port on the Raspberry Pi 5. Connect a camera module directly to your uConsole.
- RPITX Connector - connected to GPIO4, used by the RPITX project for radio signal transmission (experimental feature).
- RTC Battery Connector - powers the real-time clock on CM5. Do not connect when using CM4.
- Ethernet Signals - Ethernet signals from CM4/CM5 routed to pins previously used by CSI in the expansion port.

- CM5 (Compute Module 5) - all CM4 features + USB 3.0, PWM fan, RTC battery connector
What else do you need for a full upgrade?
The Adapter Board is the first step. To fully utilise its capabilities, consider adding:
- NVMe Battery Board - a board with an NVMe SSD slot and dedicated 18650 battery power. Connects to the PCIe connector on the Adapter Board.
- AIO V2 (All-In-One Board) - expansion board with RTL-SDR, LoRa/Meshtastic, GPS, RTC, USB Hub and RJ45 Ethernet 1 Gbps. Ethernet requires this Adapter Board.
Important note
The AC1200 Wi-Fi card is not included - available separately. The CM4/CM5 compute module and batteries are not part of the kit.
