O.MG Cable - widely known online as the "NSA cable" - looks exactly like an ordinary USB charging cable, but hidden inside its connector is a tiny implant capable of keystroke injection attacks, triggered locally or wirelessly over Wi-Fi. It is one of the most recognisable red-team and pentesting tools from Hak5.

We ship the O.MG Cable Elite version already activated and updated (you don't need a separate programmer to start), with fast shipping from the EU. Below you'll find exactly what the O.MG Cable can do, where the "NSA cable" name comes from, the differences between the Basic, Plus and Elite versions, and answers to the most common questions.

The O.MG Cable - widely known online as the "NSA cable" - looks exactly like an ordinary USB charging cable, but hidden inside the connector is a tiny implant capable of keystroke-injection attacks, triggered locally or wirelessly over Wi-Fi. It is one of the most recognisable red-team and penetration-testing tools made by Hak5.

We ship the O.MG Cable Elite version already activated and updated (no separate programmer required to get started), with fast delivery from within the EU. Below you will find exactly what the O.MG Cable does, why it is called the NSA cable, the differences between the Basic, Plus and Elite tiers, and answers to the most common questions.

The O.MG cable looks like a regular USB cable, but it's not. Hidden in the cord is an implant that allows Keystroke Injection attacks via local or remote triggering.

To date, this type of cable has cost $20,000 ( COTTONMOUTH-I ).

While asleep, the O.MG cable works like a regular USB cable: transferring data, charging, etc. However, when triggered (via smartphone / computer / connection) - it performs a programmed load on the host device.

By emulating keyboard and mouse actions, payloads are fully customizable and can be highly targeted.

Undetectable by firewalls, AV software or visual inspection, O.MG is the perfect tool for penetration testers, police and government.

Key Features:

1. UNDETECTABLE
Invisible to firewalls, antivirus and visual inspection.

2. BIG POSSIBILITIES
Tailor loads to specific environments.

3. WIRELESS TRIGGER
The load can be started wirelessly at any time.

4. SELF-DESTRUCTION
In case of problems, O.MG Cable can execute himself :). Thanks to this, it becomes a "ordinary cable". This condition can be undone with a programmer .

5. LOCATION
Trigger charges or other actions based on location. Protect your tool from falling out of reach! For example: self-destruct if someone takes the O.MG cable home.

Types of OMG Hak5 Cable:

The O.MG cable is available in many versions depending on your preferences:

Tips:

  • USB-A: Charges are delivered via the USB-A connector
  • USB-C: Charges are delivered via the USB-C connector
  • Directional C to C: A unique cable designed for demonstrations and training. It changes behavior depending on which way you plug it in. The active end is marked with a discreet logo: When connected to a USB host, it behaves like a normal cable, or connect only the active end to a compatible mobile device for mobile payload capabilities.

Instruction:

0. Before the "fun" begins.

Due to the advanced capabilities of O.MG cables, they are shipped from the manufacturer in a "deactivated" state to meet regulatory requirements, but we (SAPSAN) upon receipt of the product from Hak5, do the activation and update of each O.MG product. This allows you to save money and not buy a programmer. However, if you want to use the self-destruct feature and update the cable in the future, we recommend purchasing a programmer . The O.MG programmer is universal for all O.MG devices, so you only need one for all O.MG cables, O.MG adapters and O.MG plugs.

1. Programming.

The programming of the cable is done in two ways: via WiFi or through a special device enabling advanced programming.

2. Action.

A device is "deployed" when it is connected to the target machine.
It will function like a standard USB cable for data transfer and power. It is able to stay like this indefinitely until it is triggered.

3. Attack.

The device is activated wirelessly via WiFi. It can be launched using, for example, a smartphone. Attacks only work on the side of the active tip.

Technical Specifications:

  • Interface: USB
  • Radio: 802.11b/g/n (2.4GHz)
  • Power:
    - Voltage: 5v (+/- 0.5v)
    - Current: 500mA (or higher)
  • Payload: Keystroke Injection transmitted via the active end of the cable/adapter.
  • Payload Syntax: DuckyScript, with enhancements to support extra O.MG capabilities.
  • Passthrough data speed (for O.MG Cable & O.MG Adapter): USB 2.0 (480mhz) when active end is connected to a USB host.
  • Passthrough charging (for O.MG Cable & O.MG Adapter):
    - The active end must be connected to a 5v (max) charge source source for passthrough charging to work.
    - USB hosts are intended to be the charge source. However, advanced scenarios can utilize battery/wall charge sources as long as they output a fixed 5v. USB-PD is the only variable voltage charge protocol supported.
    - Failure to follow the above requirements will risk damage to the O.MG Device and any connected devices.
  • Capacity: ~650,000 keystrokes of storage (for models with Keylogger)
  • Keylogging Support: USB Full Speed keyboards. (Full Speed USB = 12 Mbps) Details & tested keyboards are listed

FAQ - O.MG Cable Hak5

Why is the O.MG Cable called the "NSA cable"?
Because it does openly what a classified NSA implant (COTTONMOUTH-I) reportedly did - hide an attack payload inside a normal-looking USB cable. The O.MG Cable is the commercial, research-grade equivalent used by penetration testers.
What does the O.MG Cable actually do?
It emulates a keyboard and mouse to inject pre-programmed keystrokes ("payloads") into a connected computer. Until triggered, it behaves like a normal cable - charging and transferring data.
Which version should I buy - Basic, Plus or Elite?
We stock the Elite tier, which adds up to 200 payload slots, a full-speed USB hardware keylogger, extended Wi-Fi range and covert data exfiltration - the most capable version for professional testing.
Do I need the O.MG programmer?
Not to start - we deliver the cable activated and updated. You only need the O.MG programmer if you later want to reflash payloads or use the self-destruct/update features yourself. One programmer works for all O.MG cables, adapters and plugs.
Is it legal to buy the O.MG Cable?
Yes - it is a legitimate security-testing tool. Use it only on systems you own or are explicitly authorised to test.
