USBKill V4 - a USB Killer for port resilience testing and destruction

USBKill V4 is a tool for testing port resistance to power surges - with a single connection you check whether hardware survives a USB power-surge attack, or you permanently disable it.

The principle is simple and brutal: USBKill draws current from the port, charges its internal capacitors and discharges high voltage back into the USB data lines. The cycle repeats in fractions of a second, until the electronics on the other side stop responding. This is not data wiping - it is physical destruction of the hardware.

V4 is the most powerful generation. An internal rechargeable battery lets you trigger an attack even when the host is powered off (offline mode), the discharges are stronger, and operation is more stable than in previous versions.

What USBKill is used for

  • Resilience audit - checking whether the ports in your hardware, kiosks or charging stations can withstand a power surge.
  • Controlled destruction of hardware and storage media - fast, irreversible disabling of a device.
  • Research and training in hardware security.

USBKill V4 comes in two kits. Pro Kit - for individual users and small teams: the USBKill V4 Pro device, a magnetic Trigger Ring, basic adapters, a tester and a case. Tactical Kit - for commercial and industrial customers: a complete set of all V4 versions (Basic, Pro, Classic), Shield protection modules, remote controls, both adapter sets and accessories.

FAQ - USBKill V4 Kit - USB Killer latest version

How is USBKill different from a regular flash drive - what does it actually do?
USBKill does not transfer data - it generates a power surge. It draws current from the port, charges its capacitors and discharges high voltage back into the data lines, repeating this until the host electronics are permanently damaged. It is a tool for resilience testing and hardware destruction, not a storage device.
What does the V4 version add compared to older ones?
Above all an internal battery - USBKill V4 triggers an attack even when the host device is turned off (offline mode). On top of that, stronger and more stable discharges and new triggering modes: the magnetic Trigger Ring, and in the Pro version a remote control with a range of up to 100 m.
What is the difference between the Pro Kit and the Tactical Kit?
The Pro Kit contains the USBKill V4 Pro, a Trigger Ring, basic adapters, a tester and a case - for individual users and small teams. The Tactical Kit contains a complete set of all versions (Basic, Pro, Classic), Shield modules, remotes and both adapter sets - for businesses and industrial use. You will find the full breakdown in the table in the description.
Which ports does it fit - USB only?
Not only USB. The basic set includes USB-C, Lightning, MicroUSB, MiniUSB and USB-A adapters. The Tactical Kit adds the advanced set: USB-B, VGA, HDMI, DisplayPort and RJ45 - so video and network ports as well.
Can you defend against such an attack?
Yes - that is what the USBKill V4 Shield module is for (included in the Tactical Kit). Placed between the port and the device, it detects and absorbs the surge and protects against juice-jacking, so you can safely test or secure your own charging stations and ports.
