    Description

Is a microSD card slowing down your uConsole? The NVMe Battery Board adds an NVMe SSD slot and dedicated 18650 battery power - a real difference in read, write and boot speeds.

It connects to the PCIe connector on the Adapter Board (Upgrade Kit). Together they form a pair: the Adapter Board exposes the PCIe signal, the NVMe Battery Board accepts the drive and powers it from the battery. Result: a uConsole with a full SSD.

    Specifications

    • NVMe SSD Slot - supports drives from 2230 to 2280. Install any M.2 NVMe drive for dramatically faster transfer than microSD.
    • 18650 Battery Power - version with two 18650 battery slots providing dedicated power for the NVMe drive. A LiPo battery pack version also exists.
    • Improved reverse polarity protection - no heat generated when battery is inserted incorrectly. A warning LED lights up instead.
    • Manual on/off control - option to connect a push-lock switch to J6 connector (after desoldering R14). Battery turns on when switch is locked, off when released.

    Requirements

The NVMe Battery Board requires the Adapter Board from the Upgrade Kit - it exposes the PCIe signals from the CM4/CM5 module. Without it, NVMe will not work.

    What else to consider?

    • AIO V2 (All-In-One Board) - expansion board with RTL-SDR, LoRa/Meshtastic, GPS, RTC, USB Hub and RJ45 Ethernet 1 Gbps. The complete uConsole upgrade.

    Important note

The CM4/CM5 compute module, AC1200 Wi-Fi card, 18650 batteries and NVMe SSD are not included - available separately.

    Frequently asked questions

Didn't find your answer? Write to us - we also help after your purchase.

What is the NVMe Battery Board?

The NVMe Battery Board adds an NVMe SSD slot (sizes 2230 to 2280) and dedicated 18650 battery power to uConsole. Much faster data transfer than microSD — a real difference in system performance.

Does NVMe Battery Board require the Adapter Board?

Yes. The NVMe Battery Board connects to the PCIe connector provided by the Adapter Board (Upgrade Kit). Without the Adapter Board there's no PCIe signal and the NVMe drive won't work. You need both boards.

    Which NVMe drives are supported?

Supports M.2 NVMe drives in sizes from 2230 to 2280. You can install any NVMe drive. The drive is not included in the kit.

Where does it get power from?

The NVMe Battery Board has two 18650 battery slots providing dedicated power for the NVMe drive. A LiPo pack version also exists. Features improved reverse polarity protection.

How much faster is NVMe vs microSD?

An NVMe SSD offers significantly higher data transfer than microSD — in read, write, and system boot times. It's the most noticeable upgrade you can make to uConsole.

What do I need for a full uConsole upgrade?

Full upgrade path: Adapter Board (unlocks PCIe and USB 3.0) → NVMe Battery Board (SSD + power) → AIO V2 (SDR, LoRa, GPS, Ethernet). Adapter Board is required as the first step. All available at SAPSAN Store.

How do I fit the boards and boot the uConsole from an NVMe drive?

Step-by-step assembly, the config.txt and EEPROM settings (BOOT_ORDER, PCIE_PROBE), moving the system from the card to the drive and the known problems are covered in our guide: uConsole with an NVMe drive: HackerGadgets Upgrade Kit, assembly and booting from SSD.
